My attraction to the handmade object, whether functional or not, springs from my love of nature, and in our industrial society, clay is as close to Mother Earth as it gets. Working with all the aspects of pottery such as preparing the clay, experimenting with glaze materials, and various firing methods, helps keep me in tune with the essential elements: earth, water, wind, and fire. Practiced in a worldview of pottery, one intention permeating my work is to acknowledge different cultural achievements in pottery history- a simple reflection of oneness and harmony that is ageless.
